For over two decades, Karen Korr has been entrenched in the legal profession. Karen served as the Director of Outreach Strategy and Chief Communications Officer for the San Diego County Bar Association for nearly 12 years, where she directed and managed media relations, member communications, branding, electronic and print publications, messaging, social media, and outreach strategy for the 10,000-member organization. She served on the Communications Council for the National Association of Bar Executives (NABE), and as its secretary and the editor of the Communications Section’s Communicators Talk newsletter.
Currently, Karen is a marketing and communications strategist, writer and content developer for law firms, bar associations, and other law-related organizations across the country. She also assists with professional resumes and job and public position applications, and website and collateral copy development.
Prior to working for the San Diego County Bar Association, Karen was a Senior Account Executive at a local San Diego public relations firm, where she represented clients ranging from large nonprofit organizations to small start-ups and global consumer product manufacturers. Previously, she was an associate at a boutique Chicago-based public relations and advertising firm, where she worked with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), one of the world’s largest member organizations, to help restore the reputation of the accounting profession at the height of the Enron scandal.
Karen was named to SD Metro magazine’s list of “40 under 40” in 2015 and the publication’s list of “Top Marketers” for 2017 and for 2018. She was the recipient of the Wally E. Richter Award from the National Association of Bar Executive’s Communications Section in 2018, the Section’s highest honor.
Born on the 29th of February, Karen has never done anything the way everybody else does. She’s passionate about travel, reading, reality television, charity and chocolate chip cookies. And despite being a middle-aged woman named Karen, she doesn’t complain about customer service (much).
